InnoDB is a standard MySQL storage engine that supports advanced features like support to ACID (Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation and Durability) compliant transactions and foreign keys. InnoDB databases if exposed to unexpected shutdown or crashes, can recover by replaying its logs. These features help increasing concurrency and performance of these databases. But database corruption is not an exception with this storage engine. InnoDB databases are prone to corruption due to ailments like power failure, kernel bugs, MySQL error faults and other similar causes. If no valid database backup is available, you will need to use MySQL Database Recovery products to recover from such situations. These utilities perform effective database repair.

Consider an instance, you try to access MySQL database table stored on InnoDB storage engine and it crashes. After this, when you view the crash log report, it gives you the similar error messages:

To repair database table, use these steps in order:

Execute CHECK TABLE command to check the table for corruption errors:

CHECK TABLE tablename

If the above check gives corruption results, you need to repair the damaged table:

REPAIR TABLE tablename

If applying the above measures doesn’t help, you should restore from backup.

If no clean backup is available, use MySQL Recovery utilities. MySQL Database Recovery tools scan corrupted database and repair it by providing graphically rich user interface.
